Wizard’s First Rule

“Wizard’s First Rule: people are stupid.”

So guys, I finished the book a few days ago! It was amazing. I have to admit, I was stunned at the ending.  The bad guy doesn’t usually have time to administer a foreboding warning to their killers, but at the end of the book Father Rahl tells the wizard of a far greater evil which will later reveal itself.

The plight of the Mother Confessor and the Seeker not being able to be together resolves itself at the end; doesn’t that fit? The hero ALWAYS gets the girl. Not exactly a bad thing, but predictable nonetheless. It seems that true love conquers all, and that fake love is poison to the body and soul.

I rather enjoyed this novel and as I’ve stated in the past, anyone who enjoys medieval-like environments with the plot of the story centered around a hero and his quest(s) would find this story to their liking. Something rarely seen in novels such of this is a level of maturity from the characters. All of the main characters had dignity and went about their tasks as adults; sometimes the Seeker would be angry about his fate, but he would quickly get over it and do something about his predicament.

Originally my knowledge of this series was that of the TV show  ‘Legend of the Seeker’ which I did not watch on an episode-to-episode basis, which left many questions to be held. I don’t know if the show is very good, but if anyone would like to leave their opinions below and tell me what they think/thought of it, I would be much appreciative. Thank you.

Salute to ice packs!!!!

I can read!!! Alas, my arm is not as severely injured as I had thought. I woke up this morning with little to no pain and no sign of bruising 🙂 Library trip today? Yes.

Last time something like this occurred to one of my limbs, I was also donating plasma and the needle went through the vein in my left arm, causing severe bruising and discomfort. I am glad I didn’t have to go through that again!!! This time I carefully tended to my injury with ice packs and less movement of the joint to keep it safe, and it paid off. I am hoping that it will be possible to donate sooner than I had though I would be able to :D.

Regarding the literary world, I read more of ‘Wizard’s First Rule‘ last night, and it just keeps getting more intriguing! Dragons, witch women, coy distractions, devious illusions, strange creatures… exciting things indeed!!! I will just have to keep reading and let you guys know what I think along the journey. So far it is a wonderfully written novel, but even great writers can slip up and make mistakes; which i will be on the look-out for.

Painful choices

Today I decided to do something for the good of less fortunate people and headed out to my local biolife plasma center. I was hooked up and ready to donate when the phlebotomist started wiggling the needle into place. It took minutes of excruciating pain, which led to me crying and gritting my teeth. They said to put ice on it and to rest it. The saddening part is that my dominant arm, and I can’t bend it.

Bye reading, hello misery.

Legend of the… Reader? ;)

Hello, one and all!!!

This is my new project, to stay busy this summer. Well… other than reading that is 🙂

Currently I’m reading the ‘Legend of the Seeker‘ series. I’m halfway through ‘Wizard’s First Rule‘ (the first novel in the series) and it is a wonderful (and LONG) read. If you enjoy the Eragon series and books similar to those, I would recommend reading these novels. Magic, Love, Hate, Family Drama… everyone can say they’ve been touched by each of these aspects in the personal lives, so this series relates to the reader on a fundamental level. The creature’s described are terrifying and magnificent, and the suspense makes you want to keep reading until the end. The foreshadowing leaves you following a trail of mysteries and I know for sure this is not a book I will give up on! 🙂

My boyfriend is the wonderful guy who recommended the series to me. He’s also the one with the brilliant idea to join the blogging world. His future internet plans include vlogging with his friends, also when he starts his vlogging I’ll be in a few of his videos. A lot of his stuff is regarding the multimedia world (as in video games, youtube videos, etc) so if you enjoy that stuff too you can find his blog at http://talesofanaveragefatguy.wordpress.com/ .

Have a beautiful and safe summer!!!!

Good day, and good reading!!!!
